Drawing Pennywise
This first drawing template is quite terrifying… We’re going to give him a horrible style with a “zoom on his head” effect, it always works perfectly. This drawing is not recommended for children under 10 years old. You’ll need a short hour to do it. ✍️
Just before our first step, let us introduce you to the t-shirt you absolutely must have if you are a fan of killer clowns. This garment has been designed especially for the most fanatical. Prove that you are one!
1) The Basis of the Design
We’re going to draw it obliquely for an ultra offbeat style. Start by drawing a circle to create the head. Then draw the guides of the face in the shape of a cross like on our diagram.
2) The Skull
Using the facial guides you made in the first step, sketch the actual structure of Pennywise’s head and face. As you can see, he has a long, well-defined chin.
3) Pennywise’s Eyes
Start sketching the intense look that Pennywise gives you. The lining of the eyes should be darker, bolder and more or less thick. Sketch the eyelid crease and the details under the eyes and at the temples. Draw the frowning eyebrows and eyeballs. 👁
4) The Mouth and Nose
Make a detailed sketch of his forehead as well as the bridge of his nose. When this is done, draw the clown’s nose, but as you can see, it is not perfectly round. Instead, it is a real nose with nostrils. Draw the frown lines on the sides of the nose and then draw the outline of the mouth. Notice that there are wrinkles around the lips…
5) The Teeth
Next, draw the upper gum line, then the upper row of teeth and the lower row of teeth. Color the inside of the mouth and then draw the lower lip line.
6) The Neck
Draw the right side of Pennywise’s neck, then add the wild, crazy strands of hair from the side of his head. Take your time so that the hair lining comes out perfectly.
7) The Hair
Finally, draw the other side of the hair and the left side of the neck and the ruffled collar. Erase the lines and shapes you drew in the first step.
8) Filling in your drawing
When everything is clean (after erasing the guidelines), you have a great drawing of the It monster. Now all you have to do is fill it in with colors for an ultra demonic look!
Drawing Pennywise in Animated Version
This one is a bit longer to do because there are more details in this drawing. You’ll have to be patient and read our tips carefully! Hang in there and you’ll have an absolutely perfect drawing!
1) The Drawing Guides
Start by drawing the guides and basic shapes of Pennywise’s face. These are the lines that will help you guide the rest of the drawing.
2) The Clown Chin
Using the face guides, continue and draw the shape of the face structure that is very expressive.
3) The Terrifying Clown Face
Once you have drawn the lower structure of Pennywise’s face, you can work on the upper half which starts with the temple and then the forehead on the left side. Once you have completed this task, you can start drawing the eyebrows and the shapes of the sinister eyes. Draw the dingy nose and then sketch the details and definition of the face. 💀
4) The Eyes
Here, we invite you to finish the eyes by drawing the pupil and the tips just above then you will draw the clown makeup lines coming to hollow out his cheeks.
5) The Smile
Draw the smile of Pennywise, extending almost from one ear to the other.
6) The Teeth
Starts drawing Pennywise’s teeth, which should have a sharp shape. Also adds more definition to the mouth. 🦷
7) The Lips
Here, all you have to do is to draw the shape of the lower lip. To give it a proper monster mouth.
8) Filling the Mouth
Add shadow behind and under the row of teeth at the top.
9) Wrinkles
Draws the creases on the forehead to add terror and expression to our beloved killer. 🔪
10) The Hair
Now we’re going to draw our animated clown’s hair. Start by drawing the outline of the hair and then sketch the hair strands and their texture.
11) Side Hair
Also draw the rest of the hair on the left side. In an anime hair drawing style.
12) The Collar
Now that you have finished drawing the face, you can work on the collar which is disheveled and in a comical style.
13) Stuff the collar
Add another layer to the ruffled collar to get a much bigger shape. 😵
14) Grandiose Style
Repeats the same operation adding another layer to the ruffled collar.
15) The Shoulders
This is the last turtleneck layer you’ll need to draw. Once this is done, you can draw the details of the arm and sleeve of the clown costume. 🤡
16) Clothing
Add the collar details that will turn a simple collar into a series of ruffled ribbons.
17) Pennywise’s Ear
Make a sketch in the style of the animated Pennywise ear drawing. Look at our diagram to guide you.
18) Balloons
